About the Role

AustralianSuper is seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Application Engineering Manager to lead our Application Engineering team. As a key member of our Technology Strategy & Architecture team, you will be responsible for leading a focused team of Application Engineers to develop internal, business-facing applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead collaboration with stakeholders, business users, and citizen developers to develop quality solutions aligned to target architecture and best practices.
  • Oversee a managed program of activity and sprint plan to ensure the rapid deployment, testing, and continuous improvement of engineered applications.
  • Lead workshops and learning activities to build application engineering capability across the team, groups, and domains.
  • Motivate and inspire the team and suppliers by demonstrating commitment to AustralianSuper's values, decision pillars, and leadership principles.
  • Hire and develop a high-performing, diverse, and engaged team who will support the successful delivery of AustralianSuper's strategic ambitions.
  • Deliver to the team's annual and quarterly business plan, ensuring the team has adequate resources and culture to meet the near-term and strategic goals and operational plans of AustralianSuper.
  • Lead the team to operate and make decisions according to AustralianSuper's Policies, Standards, and Procedures.

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science or related area, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 10+ years of Technology experience.
  • 5+ years of application development experience.
  • 2+ years of leading an application team is mandatory.
  • Experience working on projects in financial institutions or other regulated environments is highly desirable.
  • Experience in delivering solutions while working in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in implementing solutions with the following: Microsoft stack-based technologies, including Azure services,.Net, and SQL capabilities.
  • Programming and scripting languages, including Python and JavaScript.
  • Advanced, practical knowledge of application development/engineering best practice and industry standards.
  • Exposure across solution architecture, application development, and infrastructure technologies are desirable.
  • Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence upwards and communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A positive attitude to self and team growth and a real desire to deliver positive outcomes for AustralianSuper's members.
