Senior Medical Officer Job Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Medical Officer to lead clinical operations at a remote community medical facility in Papua New Guinea.

This role involves direct patient care, medical oversight, coordination of referrals and evacuations, and ensuring safe, high-quality healthcare aligned with global and local health frameworks.

The ideal candidate will have a strong leadership background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a remote environment.

About the Role
  • Represent Medical Services with Health Service Manager to Client, External Stakeholders and Community Members.
  • Provide Clinical and Strategic Leadership to Medical Services of Medical Centre, Mine Site Clinic and Camp Site Clinic.
  • Direct Supervision of Medical Doctors, Intensive Care Paramedic and Heads of Department (Radiology, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Disease Control and Lab).
  • Clinical Responsibilities including Consultation, Secondary Review, and Recommendations for Medical Referrals and Medical Evacuations as Required.
  • Coordinate Medical Emergencies, Medical Referrals and Medical Evacuations according to Standard Operating Procedures and MERP.
Key Requirements
  • Medical Degree and Current, Unrestricted License to Practice.
  • Minimum 10 Years Experience, including Trauma/Emergency, Occupational Health, Family Medicine, and Minimum 5 Years Leadership or Management Roles.
  • Leadership Experience in a Medical Setting, including Remote or Resource-Limited Environments.
  • Ability to Work Under Pressure and Provide Clinical Guidance in Complex Cases.
