Heritage Records Manager

The Australian Red Cross is seeking an Assistant Archivist to assist in the management of the Heritage Archives across Australia.
This role will involve working with volunteers to care for and facilitate access to the collections, as well as contributing to preparations for the acquisition of a new collection management system/archives database.
- Maintain a properly controlled and accessible Heritage Collection (archives)
- Maintain records of the receipt, acknowledgement, and answering of research queries.
- Maintain databases and other processes to record and manage collection items.
- Coordinate training of Heritage volunteers on the use of relevant systems.
- Organise suitable storage and conservation measures where appropriate.
- Liaison on behalf of Australian Red Cross with other collecting institutions holding historic records.
- Previous experience and/or equivalent qualifications in either an archives or museum environment.
- Highly developed organisational and time management skills.
- Excellent records management and attention to detail.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office and experience using collection databases.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Sharepoint an advantage.
- Experience managing and assisting volunteers in an archival or similar setting an advantage.
