Heavy Equipment Operator Job Opportunity

The role of a Heavy Equipment Operator involves providing safe and efficient movement of mobile fleet, heavy equipment, and plant between Orica sites and Projects on the East Coast of Australia.

As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be based at our Mount Isa Depot on a 5/2 roster. You may be required to stay overnight when on the road and interstate travel may be required from time to time.

  • Operating Orica's fixed and mobile plant safely, efficiently, and to Orica's guidelines;
  • Being the subject matter expert on vehicle and equipment movements within the region;
  • Training new staff and assisting with driver training as required;
  • Undertaking various tasks around the Depot including, but not limited to, manufacturing, loading and unloading trucks, conducting maintenance work orders, and general depot yard work;

To be successful in this role, you must have a Heavy Combination Licence (HC), Forklift Licence, and experience operating a tilt deck trailer or float transporting heavy equipment would be highly regarded. Practical understanding of permit requirements for over-dimensional loads is also essential.
