Flight Crew Manager

This role oversees the operational and people aspects of Flight crew for a designated base. It entails managing standards, driving performance culture, developing high-performing teams, and ensuring compliance with company and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day operational and people elements of Flight crew for a designated base
  • Conduct analysis and assessment of relevant Flight Operations facilities/procedures to optimize operations and ensure compliance
  • Negotiate with vendors and suppliers on contracting, sourcing, negotiations, performance reviews etc.
  • Collaborate with strategic partners for smooth service delivery with minimal disruption, on-time management of improvements
  • Establish and maintain standards, policies, and procedures for operations, including crew establishment, customer service, resourcing, safety, communications etc., ensuring best practice level of operational performance
  • Address disciplinary issues where there are formal and informal performance matters leading to termination of employment, providing advice on outcomes to manage performance
  • Oversee large workforce and advocate for the team's value to deliver effective and efficient service outcomes
Requirements:
  • 7+ years experience
  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent industry experience
  • Business knowledge
  • Detailed understanding of operations across Qantas Group and diverse functions interacting with external environment
  • Understanding of Flight Operations Policy and Procedures and Aviation Regulations
  • Knowledge of flight crew awards and agreements and interoperability with operational environment
  • Systems and resources supporting Flight Operations
  • Experience in departments such as Flight Dispatch, Aircrew Operations, Operations Control, and Flight Training
  • Ability to represent at senior level in political, aviation, and community circles
  • Highly developed negotiation, influencing, problem-solving & analytical skills
  • Demonstrated sound practical judgement and innovation
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships with key stakeholders
