Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Double Bass Music Tutor to join our team at Brisbane Boys' College.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and assessing students of all levels and standards in the Junior School Classroom Instrumental Music Program.

This is an exceptional opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced educator to share their passion for music with students and contribute to the development of String teaching at Brisbane Boys' College.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach and assess students of all levels and standards in the Junior School Classroom Instrumental Music Program.
  • Prepare students to a high standard, with the aim of them engaging in examinations provided by organisations like the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) and Trinity College London.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to the diverse needs of students.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Attend concerts and recitals, and assist in supervising students during performances.
  • Monitor and encourage student attendance at rehearsals and concerts.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Performance Music to further develop String teaching at Brisbane Boys' College.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of student Double Bass numbers within the Strings Department.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team environment.
Requirements and Qualifications

Our ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience and discernment in teaching and assessing the Double Bass, with a knowledge of contemporary teaching and pedagogy.
  • Able to prepare students to a highest standard, with the aim of them engaging in examinations provided by organisations like the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) and Trinity College London.
  • Knowledge of appropriate repertoire that promotes holistic and enthusiastic learning.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
