Job Title: Double Bass Music Tutor

We are seeking a qualified music tutor to join our team as a casual Double Bass Music Tutor. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing individual and group instrumental lessons in the Junior School Classroom Instrumental Music Program.

About the Role:

This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated and passionate music educator to make a positive impact on the musical development of our students. As a Double Bass Music Tutor, you will work closely with the Head of Performance Music to further develop String teaching at our institution.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-quality teaching and assessing of the Double Bass, with a focus on contemporary pedagogy and best practices.
  • Prepare students for examinations provided by organizations such as the Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) and Trinity College London.
  • Select appropriate repertoire that promotes holistic and enthusiastic learning.
  • Provide written reports on student progress at the end of each semester.
  • Manage administration tasks relevant to this position.
  • Demonstrate expertise in group teaching within the Junior School Classroom Instrumental Music Program.
  • Assist in supervising and attending concerts featuring String players.
  • Maintain student engagement and attendance at rehearsals and concerts.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Performance Music to develop String teaching strategies.
  • Inspire and motivate students of varying levels and standards.
  • Sustain a high level of student interest in the Strings Department.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment.
  • Support the Head of Strings in managing Double Bass instruments and equipment.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Tertiary Music Qualification.
Benefits:

This is a casual contract position with up to 1.75 days of tutoring per week, during term-time. The desired start date is October 7th, 2025.
