About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Aviation Safety Manager to join our team at the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS). As a key member of our safety team, you will be responsible for implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving our Safety Management System.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in aviation safety, with experience in aircraft operations, air traffic management, and aviation maintenance. You will be able to demonstrate your knowledge of aviation and safety-related legislation and standards, as well as your ability to identify and implement safe work solutions.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing and maintaining our Aviation Safety and Quality Management System (SQMS)
  • Liaising with CASA and the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) on safety-related issues
  • Triaging and investigating aviation hazards and incidents, and reporting on outcomes
  • Compiling safety data and monitoring trends
  • Providing advice and expertise on CASA regulations and aviation matters
  • Acting as the CASA-approved Fatigue Risk Manager and maintaining the Fatigue Risk Management System
  • Contributing to the implementation, monitoring, and review of processes and systems to identify, assess, measure, manage, monitor, and report risks
