Traineeship Coordinator Role

The Indigenous Health Workforce Traineeship (IHWT) Program is seeking a skilled professional to coordinate its operations across Western Australia.

  • Oversee the IHWT Program, ensuring its successful implementation and growth across Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHS).
  • Develop and execute strategies to increase the number of skilled Aboriginal people working in the healthcare sector.
  • Cultivate viable career pathways for Aboriginal individuals within the health and community services sectors.
About You
  • Hold experience in program/project administration, recruitment, training, and development or related fields.
  • Understand the vocational education and training (VET) sector and be able to navigate qualifications delivered by Registered Training Organisations (RTOs).
  • Possess strong administrative skills, including attention to detail, accuracy, and time management.
  • Be an effective communicator with excellent interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with applicants, external organisations, management, and employees at all levels.
  • Demonstrate high organisational capacity, enabling the effective planning and coordination of workload.
  • Exhibit strong written communication skills, allowing the drafting of correspondence, editing of documents, and writing of reports.

Please note: In addition to the required skills and experience, the successful candidate will need an unrestricted WA "C" Class Driver's Licence and submit a National Police Clearance dated within 3 months prior to appointment. Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Australia and provide evidence of this entitlement, such as an Australian passport or birth certificate.

Candidates are expected to demonstrate understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communicate sensitively and effectively with them.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate IHWT Program across ACCHS in Western Australia.
  2. Enhance the number of skilled Aboriginal personnel in the healthcare sector.
  3. Establish career pathways in the health and community services sectors for Aboriginal people.
  4. Build capacity of ACCHS to deliver culturally appropriate healthcare services to Aboriginal individuals.
Requirements
  • Administrative experience in program/project administration, recruitment, training, and development.
  • Understanding of VET sector and navigating qualifications delivered by RTOs.
  • Strong administrative skills, including attention to detail, accuracy, and time management.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High organisational capacity, enabling efficient workload planning and coordination.
  • Strong written communication skills.
Additional Requirements
