Chemical Analysis Specialist

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Chemical Analysis Specialist to join our laboratory services team in Australia. As part of our dynamic and safety-focused environment, you will work with advanced analytical instrumentation and support one of our key energy sector contracts.

  • Coordinate resources for sampling and testing of in-process materials, environmental conditions, and utilities, in line with scheduled programs and under guidance from senior staff.
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain analytical instruments including Gas Chromatography (GC), Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP), Ion Chromatography (IC), Auto Titrators, UV/Visible Spectrophotometers.
  • Maintain comprehensive laboratory records, including calibration data, results, and maintenance logs in LIMS.
  • Safely operate sampling stations handling liquefied hydrocarbons, gases, cryogenic liquids, and hazardous aqueous samples.
  • Interpret P&ID drawings to configure sampling equipment safely and appropriately.
  • Perform LNG custody transfer analysis with precision and adherence to protocols.
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for GCMS, surface tension, and physical property analysis in support of foam, emulsion, and phase separation studies.
  • Develop cheminformatics procedures to support advanced chemical investigations and testing governance.
  • Provide monthly activity and KPI reports, and oversee instrument performance and third-party testing as required.

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
  • Proven experience working with gas and petrochemical products.
  • Strong competency with laboratory information systems (LIMS) and Microsoft Office applications.
  • A sound understanding of laboratory quality systems (ISO/IEC 17025 preferred).
  • Exceptional attention to detail, safety awareness, and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and within a collaborative team environment.
