Compassionate Bereavement Counsellor

We are seeking a compassionate and innovative counsellor to join our multidisciplinary community palliative care team.

This role requires a person with a strong ability to provide emotional support through active listening and effective communication. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor degree, graduate diploma or masters in counselling or social work, with minimum 2 years clinical experience in bereavement.

The successful applicant will be able to adapt and problem solve, demonstrate excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, and be able to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group counselling sessions for patients and their families
  • Develop and implement bereavement programs for patients and families
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement patient-centered care plans
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop safety plans as needed
  • Participate in quality improvement activities to enhance patient outcomes

Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree, graduate diploma or masters in counselling or social work
  • Minimum 2 years clinical experience in bereavement
  • Demonstrated ability to provide emotional support through active listening and effective communication
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • NSW Drivers Licence
