Job Role: Correctional Officer Trainee

Job Description:

As a correctional officer trainee, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of inmates in a correctional facility.

You will work closely with a team to observe, supervise, and assess inmate activities and behaviour. This includes completing documentation, reporting, and administrative duties, as well as maintaining accurate and proper information in various forms and reports.

Some key responsibilities include:

  • Observing and supervising inmate activities
  • Completing documentation and reporting
  • Maintaining accurate records

Additionally, you will assist with intake, induction, and discharge of inmates from the facility, conduct daily headcounts, and report incidents in line with reporting guidelines.

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess strong communication skills, be passionate about working within a team environment, and be able to prioritise tasks to ensure completion of outcomes.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

The following qualifications and requirements are mandatory:

  • Obtaining appropriate security clearances
  • Meeting physical requirements of the role
  • Obtaining First Aid accreditation
