About the Role:

The Snowy Monaro Regional Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Water Treatment Operations Technician to join our team. As a key member of our Water and Wastewater Department, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our water treatment plants and distribution systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on water treatment plant equipment and infrastructure
  • Conduct water quality testing and sampling to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Operate and maintain water treatment plant processes, including chemical dosing and sludge handling
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve departmental goals and objectives
  • Participate in emergency response and on-call rosters as required
  • Develop and maintain internal and external stakeholder relationships to achieve outcomes that contribute to the achievement of the organisation's strategic goals

Requirements:

  • Construction Induction White Card
  • Willingness to complete certification in Water & Wastewater Treatment (Part 1 and Part 2) or equivalent
  • Willingness to complete NSW Department of Health Fluoride Operators Certificate
  • High Pressure Water Jetting certification or willingness to complete certification
  • Appropriate relevant experience in a Water & Wastewater operations and maintenance
  • Proven ability to operate, competently, small plant including: Lawnmowers, whipper snippers, sludge pumps and water snorter
  • Undertake confined spaces training courses including refresher courses
  • Physically fit to complete all aspects of the position
  • Ability to work and participate in a work team environment
  • Commitment to work health and safety
  • Ability and willingness to undertake training in water & wastewater operations as and when required
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain internal and external stakeholder relationships to achieve outcomes that contribute to the achievement of the organisations strategic goals
  • Willingness to complete Working at Heights course
  • Current Class C driver's licence

Desirable Criteria:

  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Radio telemetry (use of lap top computer and telemetry)
  • Ability to learn pipeline construction skills for the laying of water mains
  • Demonstrate analytical and problem solving techniques
  • Traffic Control Certificate
  • Implement Traffic Control Plans Certificate
  • Certificate of Competence in Excavator Operation
  • Drivers Licence MR (Medium Rigid)
  • Ability to read Water & Wastewater drawings
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Confined Space Certificate
