Job Description:We are seeking an exceptional educational leader to fill the role of Director of Humanities and Social Sciences.
The successful applicant will be responsible for developing and promoting the school's vision within the context of the Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) Learning Area.
This is a key leadership position that requires strong communication skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to inspire and motivate staff to deliver high-quality learning experiences for students.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum and be committed to building and improving practice around the inclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait histories and culture, and Culturally Responsive Classrooms.
Key Responsibilities:- Leadership: Provide educational leadership within the school and broader community, focusing on curriculum development, teacher support, and student outcomes.
- Vision and Strategy: Develop and promote the school's vision, working closely with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to build a collaborative and inclusive learning environment.
- Staff Development: Identify training needs and develop programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of HASS teachers, ensuring they stay informed on relevant curriculum issues.
- Curriculum Implementation: Work closely with teachers to implement the Western Australian Curriculum, monitoring progress and making adjustments as needed to ensure student success.
- Performance Management: Employ effective performance management strategies to support teacher growth and development, promoting a culture of continuous improvement among the academic community.
The successful applicant should possess excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with staff, parents, and the wider community. A strong commitment to equity and social justice is essential, along with a passion for teaching and learning.
