Senior Health and Safety Manager

Job Description:

The role of Senior Health and Safety Manager is to oversee the implementation and maintenance of health and safety systems across a major infrastructure project. This will involve managing a large team of safety professionals, providing expert advice and support to senior leadership teams, and ensuring that all health and safety requirements are met.

Key responsibilities include leading and mentoring a team of safety professionals, conducting risk assessments and audits, developing and implementing health and safety plans, and facilitating workshops and training sessions.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in health and safety, with at least 5 years' experience in a senior leadership role on a major infrastructure project. They will also have formal qualifications in workplace health and safety and a proven track record of driving a safety-first culture across complex high-risk construction environments.

Additionally, the successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to travel to and work from site offices in the eastern suburbs, and hold Australian or New Zealand Citizenship or Permanent Residency.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in health and safety roles, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity on major infrastructure or civil construction projects
  • Formal qualifications in Workplace Health and Safety (Diploma or Bachelor's Degree) with strong working knowledge of OHS legislation, codes of practice and major project requirements
  • Proven experience developing, implementing and managing HS systems and project-specific Safety Management Plans in alignment with client and regulatory expectations on Tier 1-2 infrastructure projects
  • Proven experience leading HS performance across complex, high-risk construction environments with self-perform workforces and sub-contractors
