About the Role:

The Science Operations Specialist will be responsible for supporting the efficient operation of the school science department, ensuring a safe and well-maintained laboratory environment. This includes managing chemical storage, handling, preparation, and disposal in accordance with established procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare chemical solutions and manufacture simple glassware and equipment as required to support teaching staff needs for practical work.
  • Maintain and operate laboratory equipment, performing routine maintenance and calibrations to ensure optimal performance.
  • Support the promotion and implementation of STEM initiatives to increase student engagement and pathways in these subjects.
  • Liaise with external organizations and industries to enhance science education and provide opportunities for students.

This is a key position within the science department, and the successful applicant will be appointed to a TO2 classification with eligibility for progression to the TO3 once specific criteria have been met or demonstrated.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with teaching staff and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, be self-motivated, and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Prior experience in a similar role within an educational setting is highly desirable.
