At Taylor & Francis, we're seeking a dynamic Commissioning Editor to join our Books Editorial Team in Asia Pacific.

About the Role:

We're looking for an experienced and knowledgeable Commissioning Editor who will be responsible for building and growing revenue for a list of books in computer science and statistics in Asia Pacific. The successful candidate will report directly to the Senior Publisher for Taylor & Francis Asia Pacific.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and grow the computer science and statistics book publishing programme in Asia Pacific by commissioning new professional titles, textbooks, and research monographs that meet annual commissioning and revenue goals.
  2. Work closely with an editorial assistant to ensure that authors deliver quality manuscripts and meet annual frontlist publishing plans.
  3. Conduct extensive market research, campus calling, and conference attendance throughout Asia Pacific, including Australia and New Zealand, to stay up-to-date on industry trends and developments.
  4. Liaise closely with authors, series editors, internal colleagues in editorial, production, marketing, and sales teams.

Requirements:

  • Degree level or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
  • Experience working in academic publishing in an editorial role is desirable.
  • Book commissioning experience would be advantageous.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong word processing, spreadsheet, and database skills.
  • The ability to organise and prioritise numerous tasks and work independently.
  • Excellent team-working skills to deal with internal and external contacts at all levels.
  • The ability to work with demanding stakeholders in a diplomatic and assertive manner.
  • A resourceful and proactive attitude in dealing with problems and queries.
  • Good publishing business awareness and the ability to learn quickly.
