The Australian Federal Police (AFP) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of Chief Operating Officer (SES Band 3). This is a key leadership role that requires a strong understanding of strategic operations, executive leadership, and corporate services management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Direction: Contribute to the development of the AFP's strategic direction, leading corporate functions and ensuring the efficient delivery of business services.
  • Systemic Change: Deliver systemic change and process improvements across the AFP, driving innovation and efficiency.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders, including Deputy Commissioners and external partners.
  • Strategic Operational Leadership: Develop and implement strategies to achieve national programs and priorities, including resource management and people development.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the achievement of outcomes is in accordance with the regulatory framework, the AFP Code of Conduct, and the AFP Governance instruments.
Requirements
  • Australian Citizenship: Must be an Australian citizen.
  • Qualifications: Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field will be favourably regarded.
  • Experience: Strong financial management experience and substantial experience in leading major organisational transformation at the most senior level with Commonwealth or state and territory agencies.
  • Security Clearance: Positive Vetting (PV) security clearance (or the ability to obtain one).
