Learning Support Specialist

Job Overview

The role of a Learning Support Specialist is to provide support for students with diverse learning needs, including disability, in classrooms and other learning environments under the direction and supervision of a teacher.

This support includes student welfare, health, and wellbeing activities as required.

As a Learning Support Specialist, you will work effectively as part of a team to ensure the best possible outcomes for students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students with emotional, physical, or intellectual disabilities
  • Administer medications (training provided based on student needs)
  • Work effectively as part of a team
  • Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents

Essential Requirements:

  • Working with Children Check Clearance
  • Completion of mandatory training required by the education department
  • First aid training relevant to the Learning Support Specialist role

Selection Criteria:

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to work with students with emotional, physical, or intellectual disabilities
  • Awareness of the needs of students with emotional, physical, or intellectual disabilities
  • Effective communication skills
