Job Opportunity

The role of Research Associate at UNSW presents an exciting chance to contribute to research projects and enhance expertise in mining equipment development and safety technologies.

This opportunity reports directly to Associate Professor Guangyao Si.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to collaborative research efforts to improve quality of research outcomes independently or as part of a team.
  • Conduct research and facilitate the creation of scholarly output recognized by peers.
  • Undertake specific research projects under the guidance of a research leader, contributing to research activities.
  • Support the dissemination of research findings through appropriate channels.
  • Engage in discipline-specific research activities, including surveys, literature reviews, and data collection.
  • Participate in conferences relevant to the project and present research results.
  • Assist with supervision of research students where required.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A PhD in Mining/Safety/Mechanical Engineering or related fields is mandatory.
  • Commitment to staying up-to-date with industry knowledge and developments is essential.
  • Demonstrated capability in mining equipment/product design, development, and testing is necessary.
  • A track record of publications and conference presentations relative to opportunity is expected.
  • Ability to work effectively in teams, collaborate across disciplines, and build strong relationships is crucial.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills are vital for success.
  • Background in industrial design or product development is desirable, along with significant work experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly in English, are preferred.
