Job Summary:

The Director of Infrastructure and Sustainability is a senior leadership position overseeing the largest division of the Council, encompassing infrastructure planning, delivery, and maintenance, as well as open space and environmental initiatives.

This role carries significant influence and reach, with responsibility for leading a team of around 140 staff members and driving strategic outcomes in a resource-constrained environment.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of delivering capital works projects, promoting cultural improvement, and enhancing customer accountability while driving innovation and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic guidance and operational leadership to enable the delivery of the Council's strategic plan
  • Establish high standards of governance and accountability within the team
  • Engage effectively with Councillors, the community, and key stakeholders
  • Lead a team of approximately 140 staff members and drive performance through collaboration and trust
  • Deliver results while shaping culture and influencing the region's infrastructure, liveability, and environmental sustainability

Requirements:

  • Proven leader with senior executive experience in infrastructure, project delivery, or related technical domains
  • Ideal candidates will have gained experience within local government or a strongly aligned regulatory sector
  • Possesses strong political acumen, a customer-centric approach, and a proven ability to deliver results while shaping culture
