Animal Care Specialist Job Description

 

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Animal Care Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our animal care team, you will be responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of animals in our care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure accurate data entry and maintenance of animal records, including inventory and internal data collection.
  • Coordinate animal transfers between locations and foster care programs within the region.
  • Oversee offsite adoption programs and manage animal husbandry requirements.
  • Implement behavior initiatives and assessments, and oversee volunteer coordination.

 

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in business management or related field (desired).
  • Driver's license is mandatory.
  • Leadership abilities to motivate and guide staff and volunteers.
  • Familiarity with animal welfare laws and regulations.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  • Animal care knowledge and understanding of animal behaviour, health, and welfare.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem-solving skills to handle crises and make quick decisions under pressure.
