About the Opportunity



BAE Systems Australia is seeking a Senior Mechanical Technologist to join our team in Osborne, SA. As a key member of our Hobart Class Destroyer (DDG) project, you will play a crucial role in the installation, repair, and commissioning of systems and equipment.



Key Responsibilities:


  • Team Leadership: Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of a team of mechanical technicians, providing coaching and development opportunities to enhance their performance.
  • System Integration: Set up, test, integrate, and commission equipment and systems, ensuring seamless operation and alignment with technical requirements.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide expert technical services, including defect analysis, resolution, and detailed reporting.
  • Documentation: Develop and prepare accurate technical documentation, including test procedures and reports.
  • Project Support: Assist in the design, construction, testing, and acceptance of systems, ensuring compliance with technical specifications.


Requirements:


  • A Certificate III or relevant experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Significant post-trade experience in a complex production environment, with demonstrated supervisory skills or management training.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated superior communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with employees and customers at all levels.
  • A high level of professional integrity, objectivity, and maturity of judgment.
  • Possession or eligibility for defence security clearance, as well as ITAR regulations.
