Culinary Arts in Amazonian Forests

Immerse yourself in the rich culinary traditions of Ecuador's Amazonian forests by participating in our role as a Culinary Arts volunteer. This unique opportunity allows you to learn from local farmers and cooks about ancestral farming practices and modern income-generation projects.

Main Responsibilities
  1. Leverage your knowledge to identify edible and medicinal plants, understanding their importance in traditional cooking and medicine.
  2. Collaborate with locals to prepare traditional dishes and experiment with different flavors and spices.
  3. Contribute to work on traditional agroforestry farms by planting, weeding, and harvesting crops.
  4. Support eco-tourism projects and guide visitors through forest foods, traditional Amazonian dishes, and agroforestry systems.
Key Skills Developed
  1. Demonstrate knowledge of indigenous rights, ecotourism, Fair Trade, organic certifications, social entrepreneurship, and community tourism projects.
  2. Gain research and dissertation support with partner organizations and universities.

This minimum 4-week program offers an immersive experience, with start dates each month. The fee covers all food, accommodation, pre-departure and in-country support, orientation, and project-related activities.
