Amazonian Ethnobotany Experience

This unique opportunity allows you to delve into the rich culture and biodiversity of Ecuador's Amazon region. You will collaborate with experienced traditional healers, community health practitioners, and other specialists to learn about medicinal plants used by local communities.
Your Role:
- Discover traditional medicinal plants utilized by Kichwa, Shuar, and mestizo communities.
- Contribute to initiatives supporting local medicine men and healers in disseminating information and preserving cultural heritage.
- Participate in sustainable agroforestry farming, cultivate medicinal plants, and contribute to plant inventories.
- Livewith local host families and engage in cultural exchange.
- Assist with community-based activities, including language exchange or cultural excursions.
Daily Schedule and Logistics:
A typical day includes breakfast with your host family, morning work at an agroforestry site, and afternoon research or activities with local healers. Evenings may include cultural activities or language practice, with weekends offering additional opportunities for immersion.
Arrival is via Quito International Airport. Transportation to Tena is provided (approximately 4 hours by road). Private accommodation and meals are included.
