System Operations Specialist
In this pivotal role, you will oversee the design, deployment, and management of Splunk infrastructure across RHEL clusters. Your expertise in Splunk Apps development and implementation will drive efficient data ingestion, parsing, and indexing strategies, ensuring seamless availability and optimal performance.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Data Management: Design, deploy, configure, and manage Splunk clustered infrastructure on RHEL, encompassing indexers, search heads, forwarders, and deployment servers.
  2. Splunk App Administration: Develop and implement new or extend existing apps to perform specialized functionality, enhancing system efficiency and scalability.
  3. Data Ingestion and Indexing: Develop and execute strategies for efficient data ingestion, parsing, and indexing, guaranteeing high availability and optimal system performance.
  4. Consultation and Customization: Collaborate with teams to customize searches, reports, dashboards, and configure Splunk to meet their specific requirements.
  5. Documentation and Maintenance: Create and maintain detailed documentation detailing architecture components, configurations, monitoring, and alerting setup, troubleshooting guides, and checklists.
  6. Security and Compliance: Implement and maintain robust security controls and data protection measures aligned with best practices and DISA STIG standards.

Requirements and Qualifications:
  1. Experience: 5+ years in systems administration with a high school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Certification: Security+ certified.
  3. Splunk Certifications: Hold one of the following certifications: Splunk Core Certified Power User, Splunk Core Certified Advanced Power User, Splunk Enterprise Certified Administrator, or Splunk Enterprise Security Certified Administrator.
  4. Technical Expertise: Proven experience with Splunk in a Red Hat Enterprise Linux environment (RHEL), covering installations, configurations, monitoring, upgrades, troubleshooting, and dashboard design.
  5. RHEL Administration: Strong familiarity with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration.
  6. Network Security: Solid understanding of network protocols, security frameworks, and compliance standards.
  7. Communication Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, analytical skills to troubleshoot issues, and ability to conceptualize server infrastructures and configurations.
  8. Clearance: Must be a US citizen and hold a current Top Secret clearance with SCI access (TS/SCI).
