Commercial Analyst Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Commercial Analyst to join our Financial Performance and Assurance team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for leveraging advanced data analytics to support month-end reporting, regulatory obligations, and business insights.

The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills, with the ability to manage large volumes of data, analyze trends, and extract key insights. They will also have experience in producing accurate and timely management reports, as well as a proven track record of delivering financial modeling and analysis projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Modelling, Analysis, and Reporting:
    • Manipulate, analyze, and synthesize large volumes of data using automation tools such as Power Pivot and Power BI.
    • Provide direct data, insights, and analytical support to the Senior Commercial Analyst.
    • Actively lead the village budget process and support quarterly and annual reporting.
    • Participate in monthly meetings with village and housing managers.
    • Conduct internal benchmarking of similar projects and external benchmarking where possible.
    • Assist in the formulation and documentation of financial and operational data governance, data catalogue, and data quality assurance processes.

Operational Processes:

  • Support the month-end, budgeting, and rolling forecast workstreams.
  • Ensure the timely completion of regulatory obligations.
  • Develop clear, concise, and insightful communication materials.
  • Support the execution of new initiatives to enhance financial performance.
  • Proactively identify opportunities and challenges, assessing potential financial impacts.
  • Identify and implement process improvements.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting/Finance.
  • Current membership or working towards membership in CPA Australia (CPA), Chartered Accountants Australia (ICAA), or CFA Institute.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a finance, commercial, or business analyst role.
  • Strong experience in producing accurate and timely management reports.
  • Proven ability to manage large volumes of data, analyze trends, and extract key insights.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to navigate a complex organisation and build strong relationships.
