The Opportunity:

We are seeking an experienced and strategic-minded individual to join our Senior Management Team as a Financial Controller. This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with our CFO and contribute to the company's continued success. As a Financial Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing the finance department's daily activities, analyzing financial performance, and providing insights for strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management:

  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support business objectives.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • Analyze financial performance and provide insights for strategic decision-making.
  • Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations.
  • Identify opportunities to support mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic projects.

Compliance and Control:

  • Maintain and improve accounting systems and procedures.
  • Understand, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Assist with coordinating external audits and liaising with auditors.
  • Evaluate and manage financial risks and opportunities.
  • Stay updated on industry changes and advise on financial implications.

Team Leadership:

  • Help lead and develop the finance team by providing mentorship, training, and assistance.

Financial Analysis and Reporting:

  • Identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Liaise in the development of financial models and business cases for strategic initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights and support.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Previous financial controller experience, preferably in the hospitality industry.
  • Comprehensive understanding of XERO and associated accounting software tools.
  • Strong understanding of Australian accounting standards and ATO reporting requirements.
  • Proven track record in creating efficiencies across financial processes and procedures.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong business partnering skills and ability to apply strategic thought processes.
  • Ability to relay complex financial data effectively.
  • Tertiary qualifications are mandatory for this role.
