Brisbane, Queensland, Australia Squiz Full time

The Squiz product team is focused on delivering a cloud-based Digital Experience Platform (DXP) with core capabilities including Content Management, Optimisation tooling, and Platform services.

We are seeking a Software Engineering Team Lead to join our product engineering team on a permanent basis, with a focus on improving the Artificial Intelligence (AI) capability across the entire DXP. This role would best suit a senior software engineer with team lead experience.

This position requires recent experience with implementing and integrating Large Language Models (LLM) and associated technologies into SaaS based products or a keen interest in AI. No prior Python or data science experience is required, as this is not a build-from-scratch role.

This full-time opportunity offers a location-flexible work arrangement, allowing candidates from the east coast of Australia – Sydney, Melbourne, or Brisbane – to apply. The role is hybrid, enabling employees to work where and when they perform best.

To be considered for this position, we ask that you can demonstrate the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in related fields
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in full-stack software development, building and maintaining large-scale software products
  • Experience with our DXP tech stack – Typescript, React, Node, AWS
  • Knowledge of AI tools, languages, and frameworks
  • Strong understanding of testing principles and demonstrated experience in implementing testing strategies to improve software quality and robustness
  • Experience with Agile or other iterative development methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban
  • Strong grasp of secure coding practices, particularly community standards like OWASP
  • Previous experience leading a team of technology experts, including software engineers

Nice-to-have skills include experience with Amazon Bedrock and an understanding of Content Management Systems (CMS) and/or Digital Experience Platforms (DXP).

In this role, you will:

  • Lead a team of engineers to implement AI into our Digital Experience Platform (DXP)
  • Collaborate closely with our AI Product Manager to develop and deliver an AI-focused Product Roadmap
  • Develop and enhance robust application code that meets all technical requirements
  • Work with team members to create User Stories, Acceptance Criteria, and estimates
  • Provide guidance to junior engineers and assistance to senior engineers
  • Maintain software documentation

We estimate the salary for this position to be around $140,000 per year, depending on experience and location.
