SGS Australia is seeking a skilled Coal Technician to join our team at Mount Thorley, NSW. As a Coal Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the timely and high-quality sampling, preparation, and analysis of samples for both internal and external customers.
Key Responsibilities- Sample Preparation and Analysis: Ensure accuracy, precision, and traceability of prepared samples.
- Maintenance and Calibration: Assist with the preventative maintenance of all preparation and laboratory equipment, and assist with the calibration of all preparation and laboratory equipment.
- Safety and Quality: Always maintain a safety-aware environment and follow routine and non-routine sampling instructions under supervision.
- Sampling and Reporting: Perform all duties as per your Industrial Agreement classification, including sampling, collection, preparation, analysis, reporting, and validation of samples from automatic sample stations, and other samples, as required.
- Experience: Coal sampling, preparation, and testing experience preferred, with previous experience in a general mineral laboratory environment.
- Education: Successful completion of Year 10 secondary education with a science background or equivalent, with progress towards or completion of relevant higher formal qualifications preferred.
- Skills: Good computer skills, including Excel, and completion of a numeracy, writing, and comprehension test.
- License: Current full driver's license (green P plates by approval).
