SGS is seeking a full-time Coal Technician to join our team at Mount Thorley, NSW. This role's primary responsibility is to ensure the timely and high-quality sampling, preparation, and analysis of samples for both internal and external customers.
Your key responsibilities in this role will include but are not limited to:
- Ensure accuracy, precision and traceability of prepared samples.
- Assist with the preventative maintenance of all preparation and laboratory equipment.
- Assist with the calibration of all preparation and laboratory equipment.
- Always maintain a safety-aware environment.
- Follow routine and non-routine sampling instructions under supervision.
- Perform all duties as per your Industrial Agreement classification, including: Sampling, Collection, Preparation, Analysis, Reporting and Validation of samples from automatic sample stations, and other samples, as required.
- Other tasks and duties, as required and as directed by supervisor or management.
**Qualifications**
- Coal sampling, preparation and testing experience preferred
- Previous experience in general mineral laboratory environment preferred
- Successful completion of Year 10 secondary education with science background or equivalent (preferred)
- Progress towards or completion of relevant higher formal qualifications preferred
- Good computer skills i.e. Excel beneficial
- Completion of a numeracy, writing and comprehension test
- Current full drivers license (green p plates by approval).
