
Part-time Payroll Specialist

This leading financial services organization is seeking a part-time Payroll Specialist. You will join a collaborative finance team recognized for its commitment to excellence, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement.
Main Responsibilities:- Manage payroll calculations for multiple employees
- Provide support to colleagues with their queries
- Prepare detailed reports for month-end close
- Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements
You will have the opportunity to participate in process improvement projects that drive efficiency within the payroll function. Working closely with internal stakeholders and external partners, your ability to communicate effectively and prioritize tasks will be crucial to success.
The position offers variety through involvement in ad-hoc reporting tasks during busy periods as well as audit support. By contributing your expertise in payroll operations within this supportive environment, you will help ensure accurate and timely payments while enhancing processes for future growth.
Key Requirements:- Deliver monthly payroll processing for approximately 420 employees
- Manage employee onboarding and offboarding processes efficiently and accurately
- Handle various payroll transactions including incentive payments, adjustments, parental leave calculations, redundancies, superannuation contributions, and other related tasks
- Liaise closely with internal teams and external partners to resolve payroll queries promptly and provide guidance and support to employees as needed
- Prepare and submit Single Touch Payroll (STP) reports in accordance with statutory requirements
- Generate comprehensive month-end reports, process journals, and prepare balance sheet reconciliations for payroll-related accounts
- Collaborate with the Finance team to reconcile expat payrolls accurately and undertake payroll tax preparation and lodgement activities
- Support process improvement initiatives and automation projects aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the payroll function across the organization
- Assist with ad-hoc reporting requests during peak periods as well as audit requests by providing accurate information in a timely manner
Requirements:
- Proven experience managing end-to-end payroll processes in complex environments
- Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting
- Familiarity with major payroll systems such as ADP or Workday
- Formal qualifications underpinning technical competence
- Strong interpersonal skills including clear communication, empathy, and reliability
