Senior Energy Markets Analyst

This is a critical role in our team, requiring a highly skilled and experienced individual to analyse and monitor the operational and financial performance of our natural gas portfolio.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in finance, economics or engineering, with experience in the Australian energy industry. They will be responsible for evaluating the financial performance of our natural gas supply, transport and storage arrangements, as well as customer arrangements.

The Senior Energy Markets Analyst will also prepare financial models, forecasts and reports for individual projects and the overall portfolio, and undertake customer load analysis and develop pricing structures in line with our Pricing Methodology.

In addition to these key responsibilities, the Senior Energy Markets Analyst will assist in the development of new product offerings, contribute to the development and refinement of asset strategies and long-term plans for the portfolio, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess market trends, technological advancements and regulatory changes.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to create models to account for a variety of market and operational outcomes. You will also need to have strong written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking an experienced Senior Energy Markets Analyst who has a strong background in finance, economics or engineering, and experience in the Australian energy industry.

The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to create models to account for a variety of market and operational outcomes. They will also need to have strong written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Experience: 5+ years in the Australian energy industry or relevant industry consulting sector
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Economics or Finance
  • Skills: Analytical and problem-solving skills, strong written and oral communication skills, ability to create models, knowledge of energy industry, domestic gas market, gas and renewable generation
