The Role

The Graduate Energy Analyst role will be responsible for high-quality analysis, forecasting, and development of data for our client's portfolio and the energy markets. This role will work with stakeholders to develop and assess energy trading and hedging strategies across gas, electricity, and renewable energy markets.

The role is a key supporting role within the Energy One business that manages the interface between our operational trading services function and our clients. The role provides research and analysis into the economic factors affecting our gas and electricity clients.

Skills and Abilities
  • Well-honed interpersonal skills.
  • A high level of analytical skills utilizing Microsoft Excel, with utilization of databases and coding such as Visual Basic, Python, and Java.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Well-articulated report writing skills that appropriately cover the specific project being undertaken for a client, including providing recommendations.
  • Ability to work as a team and autonomously.
  • Tertiary qualifications in one or more of the following disciplines: Economics, Finance, Law, Business, and/or Engineering.
Job Responsibilities
  • Development and assessment of energy trading and hedging strategies.
  • Portfolio optimization to maximize the commercial position for clients.
  • Derivative and contract evaluation.
  • Market trend analysis and commentary.
  • Provide consultative support around energy market and commodity price information analysis, reports, and recommendations.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of technological, environmental, and social changes affecting the Australian energy market.
