About the Role

Centacare is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Peer Worker to join our team. As a Peer Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals experiencing mental health challenges and distress across various regions in South Australia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide holistic, flexible, and culturally responsive psychosocial outreach support to clients.
  • Work collaboratively with clients to identify and address their needs, goals, and aspirations.
  • Develop and implement individualized support plans to promote mental health recovery and wellbeing.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, families, and carers to ensure a comprehensive support network.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of community-based programs and services.
Requirements
  • Certificate IV level qualification in Mental Health Peer Work.
  • Lived experience of mental health challenges and recovery.
  • Experience working directly with people with mental health issues, complex needs, and with their families and carers.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritize to meet client service delivery requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in documenting client case notes and working with electronic data bases.
  • Demonstrated understanding of available community services, networks, and supports.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the NDIS eligibility, application, and transition processes.
  • Great interpersonal and listening skills to build strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated experience working with the recovery framework and taking a trauma-informed approach to practice.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and de-escalate crises.
  • Valid Department of Human Services (DHS) Working with Children Check.
