About the Role

This role involves carrying out preventative and breakdown maintenance activities with a strong focus on prevention.

The successful candidate will contribute ideas and input to improved systems, procedures and maintenance, engage with the production team to optimize equipment performance and assist in capital and continuous improvement projects as directed.

Maintaining a strong focus on safety, health and environment is also crucial. The ability to understand urgent business needs and manage competing priorities is essential.

Prioritizing urgent repairs of equipment and understanding the importance of troubleshooting and problem solving are key skills required for this position.

Coordination and collaboration with contractors and other departments regarding reliable maintenance of plant sections is also an important aspect of this job.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Trade qualifications - Certificate III in Engineering as a minimum
  • Experience in Maintenance Fitter or Fitter-Mechanic role
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and great diagnostics for fault finding
  • Reliable, motivated self-starter
  • Can-do attitude, focusing on solutions
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent time management skills and communication skills
  • FMCG or manufacturing environment (highly regarded)
  • Beef slaughter process equipment (highly regarded)
  • Associated downstream offal and rendering plant and equipment (highly regarded)
  • Downstream processing (boning, chilling, packaging, labelling and transfer systems) (highly regarded)
