Career Pathway for Aspiring Midwives

Embark on your midwifery career through our 12-month program. This is a unique opportunity to join our dedicated and supportive team of midwives, where you will continue to grow your clinical knowledge and professional skills in the rewarding field of midwifery.
The program offers a combination of practical experience and academic learning, delivered in collaboration with La Trobe University as part of the Graduate Diploma of Midwifery.
Key Responsibilities- You will be part of a rotating roster across diverse maternity settings, gaining hands-on experience and developing clinical skills within a supportive team.
- Senior responsibilities may be associated with program progression and clinical learning opportunities as outlined in the Graduate Diploma of Midwifery program.
Requirements
- Australian Citizenship / Permanent Residency; OR New Zealand Citizenship
- You will have a minimum of one-year acute clinical nursing experience following your graduate year within the acute clinical setting.
- Current AHPRA nursing registration
Benefits
This integrated role includes:
- 0.5 EFT paid employment (ongoing, on successful completion of the program)
- 0.3 EFT supernumerary clinical placement (unpaid student model)
As a midwife, you will have access to further professional development opportunities through Epworth's extensive scholarship program, supporting your continued growth and advancement within the maternity healthcare field. Increased ongoing EFT opportunities will also be offered to midwives successfully completing this program where available.
