Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled PhD researcher to join our world-class photovoltaics research group at the Australian National University- School of Engineering. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of the next generation of solar cells, with a focus on perovskite and tandem solar cells.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop large-area fabrication techniques for perovskite cells
  • Develop and fabricate high-efficiency perovskite solar cells of various sizes
  • Investigate and develop advanced encapsulation techniques
  • Conduct accelerated lifetime tests and interpret the results
  • Perform advanced measurements of devices and test structures using state-of-the-art equipment
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve device performance, based on experimental and simulation results
  • Participate in group discussions to analyze results and plan future work
  • Write scientific and technical reports, including journal papers, conference papers, and reports for funding bodies and project partners
  • Give presentations at group meetings, workshops, and conferences
  • Cultivate existing research collaborations and develop new collaborations
  • Prepare and submit grant or fellowship applications

About the Team

The ANU Photovoltaics research group is a large and dynamic group of over 50 people, carrying out cutting-edge research on a broad range of topics, with a particular focus on silicon cells, perovskite cells, perovskite-silicon tandems, and advanced characterization and modeling techniques.

Funding and Benefits

  • We offer a full scholarship for 3.5 years, covering university fees and providing a living allowance of $36,652-$40,000 per annum
  • Tuition fees are fully covered
  • Conference allowance of approximately $5,000 per international conference

Requirements

Applicants must hold the equivalent of a first-class Honours degree or Master's degree in engineering, chemistry, physics, or a related field, and/or have relevant research experience.
