Statistician Role

This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the creation of high-quality official statistics and generate timely new insights.

As a statistician, you will provide specialist statistical advice on methods used to produce high-quality official statistics. You will identify, research, implement, and maintain innovative statistical solutions embracing new methods and data sources.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain high-quality statistical products and services.
  • Analyze and interpret complex data to inform policy and program decisions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across government agencies to achieve common goals.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in statistics and data science.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to have qualifications in statistics, mathematics, econometrics, actuarial studies, physics, data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, operations research, or quantitative subjects in science, commerce, business/data analytics, computer science, or engineering.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this role, you must:

  • Be an Australian citizen at the time of application.
  • Have completed at least an Australian Qualifications Framework Level 7 qualification (a Bachelor degree), or higher equivalent by December 2026.
  • Have completed your most recent, eligible qualification between January 2022 to December 2026.
  • Be able to obtain and maintain a valid Australian Government security clearance if required.
  • Be willing to undergo any police, character, health or other checks required.
