Job Description:

The primary objective of the Maintenance Manager role is to oversee the maintenance and upkeep of school facilities.

This includes ensuring a safe, clean, and aesthetically pleasing environment for students, staff, and visitors.

The role requires effective leadership and hands-on management to coordinate staff, contractors, and suppliers.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Maintenance Coordination: Oversee the coordination of school staff and external contractors for the maintenance and improvement of facilities.
  • Operational Support: Actively contribute to maintenance and cleaning tasks as needed, including covering duties during staff absences, in alignment with relevant position descriptions.
  • Facility Improvement: Identify and implement minor projects to repair, replace, improve, and enhance school facilities.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with relevant council and government requirements, Work Health & Safety legislation, and environmental guidelines.
  • Quality Education: Assist the school in ensuring facilities/environment support the delivery of high-quality education.
  • Safe Environment: Ensure a pleasant and safe working environment for the school community.
Project Management:
  • Oversee certain minor projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Ensure all projects meet the school's quality standards and comply with relevant regulations and safety standards.
Maintenance Planning:
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules to ensure the school's buildings, grounds, and equipment are well-maintained.
  • Manage and monitor the responsibilities of direct reports, as outlined in their position descriptions.
  • Monitor the quality of maintenance and cleaning work, addressing any issues promptly.
Facilities Management:
  • Assist the school in identifying opportunities for facility improvements and implement projects to enhance the school's infrastructure.
  • Assist with school security, including systems, protocols, and staff, to ensure a safe environment.
  • Oversight of the procurement and management of plant and equipment necessary for the operation of the maintenance team.
Additonal Responsibilities:
  • Community Engagement: Participate in school events and meetings, fostering a positive and collaborative school community.
  • Budgeting and Planning: Develop budget estimates and project plans for minor projects, as well as annual budgets for Cleaning, Maintenance (including Grounds), and Security.
  • Facilities Hire: Assist in the assessment and management of facility hire requests, ensuring they align with school operations.
