About Newborough Primary School

Newborough Primary School is a government school in Western Australia that caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. We strive to foster the whole child's learning and wellbeing through our Positive Behaviour and Wellbeing (PBW) values of Respect, Kindness, Team Work and Challenge Yourself.

We are part of a local cluster of Independent Public Schools which includes Doubleview PS, Deanmore PS, Scarborough PS and Yuluma PS. These schools form the Ocean Net cluster of schools. Our students usually continue their secondary education at either Churchlands Senior High School or Carine Senior High School.

The Role

We are seeking a skilled Gardener - Handyperson to join our team. The successful applicant will work closely with the line manager to ensure a safe and clean school environment. This involves maintaining and presenting the school grounds and gardens in an attractive, clean and tidy condition.

The successful applicant will be responsible for reporting faults, performing tasks and duties using safe work practices, including following Safety Data Sheet guidelines, in a timely manner with minimal disruption to students and staff. They will also provide a suitable growing environment for both soft and hard landscaping, including turf management.

Additional responsibilities include performing minor repairs and maintenance as requested, as well as other duties such as line-marking in accordance with the Department's policies and guidelines.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • a valid Working With Children Check
  • consent to a National Criminal History Check with the Department's Screening Unit
  • to be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment

You will also need effective communication skills, the ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with staff and external stakeholders, and the ability to work unsupervised. It would be beneficial if you had attention to detail, a positive outlook, and were a team player.
