Human Resource Specialist Job Overview

The role of a Human Resource Specialist is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of an organization. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing end-to-end recruitment, providing advice on employee and industrial relations matters, and partnering with managers to deliver workforce strategies aligned with operational goals.

This position requires a strong understanding of Australian workplace legislation and IR frameworks, as well as experience advising leaders on HR practices and employee relations. Additionally, the successful candidate must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build trust.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment: Manage the entire recruitment process from initial screening to final selection.
  • Employee Relations: Provide guidance on employee and industrial relations matters, ensuring compliance with Fair Work and enterprise agreements.
  • Workforce Planning: Partner with managers to develop and implement workforce strategies that align with business objectives.
  • Performance Management: Support performance management, investigations, and case management initiatives.
  • HR Reporting: Maintain accurate and timely HR reporting and metrics to inform business decisions.
  • Engagement and Retention: Drive engagement and retention through people-focused initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary Qualifications: Hold a minimum Diploma in Human Resources or a related discipline.
  • Experience: Possess demonstrated experience in a generalist HR role, preferably within mining, construction, or heavy industry.
  • Australian Workplace Legislation: Have a strong understanding of Australian workplace legislation and IR frameworks.
  • Leadership Advice: Be able to advise leaders on HR practices and employee relations.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build trust.
