Job Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Officer to provide high-quality primary health care services to our clients.

The successful candidate will report to a Coordinator, Health Services and have no direct responsibility for supervision of staff.

The role involves providing medical services to advance the health of our clients, including specific services of general medical practice, emergency care and community health.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver clinical services to promote the health and well-being of clients;
  • Contribute to the planning, delivery and evaluation of primary health programs and services;
  • Maintain working relationships with internal and external health service providers to ensure coordinated continuity of care;
  • Participate in case planning conferences to ensure effective client care;
  • Provide medical care in accordance with professional ethics and standards;
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive client records in a timely manner;
  • Ensure that reports are provided to the service in a timely and accurate manner;
  • Pursue ongoing professional development to maintain best practice clinical care;
  • Participate in medical research and quality assurance programs to ensure safe and effective healthcare;
  • Work within the service's Policies and Procedures, including the Staff Code of Conduct and Work Health and Safety requirements.
Requirements and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Medicine from a recognized University and current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.

Eligibility for a Medicare Provider Number and possession of a current CPR certificate are also essential.

A commitment to work within the principles of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community control is highly valued.

Essential Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must possess:

  • Degree in Medicine from a recognized University;
  • Current Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency;
  • Eligibility for a Medicare Provider Number;
  • Current CPR Certificate;
  • Queensland 'CA' class driver's licence.
Preferred Qualities

Candidates with experience in delivering primary health care services, particularly in an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander setting, are highly sought after.

Proficiency in Microsoft products and client information management systems is also desirable.
