About the Role
This role leads the Approvals function in NSW, reporting to the General Manager Approvals. The position will manage and deliver environment approvals and regulatory engagement strategies across New South Wales to support the delivery of the company's business strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrate visible leadership in safety and risk management, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and zero harm.
- Implement the company's strategy to gain approvals, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and community expectations.
- Provide technical expertise on environmental approvals, managing stakeholder engagement with external regulators and internal teams.
- Manage the delivery of approvals, including project management and stakeholder engagement.
- Provide support to operations for license and permit renewals and modifications.
- Responsible for modifications and post-approvals for all SSD & EPBC approvals, staying up-to-date with changes to relevant legislation and industry codes.
Requirements
- Tertiary qualifications in Risk, Engineering, Science, Environmental Science, or Applied Science.
- Extensive experience in HSE roles and heavy industry/mining, preferably with a strong background in environmental approvals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to engage and influence large and diverse teams, working autonomously and effectively across organisational boundaries.
- Strong analytical and conceptual skills.
