Data Engineering Tech Lead

Vanguard, a leader in investment management, seeks an experienced Data Engineering Tech Lead to spearhead the development of a metadata-driven data lakehouse solution on AWS. This role is critical to driving Vanguard's growth, client satisfaction, and crew success.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with engineers and tech leads to design, build, and deploy a cloud-based data lakehouse solution for international teams across Vanguard.
- Support data quality and governance processes by writing maintainable, well-documented, and resilient code.
- Work closely with the wider Data & Analytics team in Australia, Europe, and the US to ensure accessible and timely data.
- Monitor, test, and report on current data lake processes and work with the product owner to prioritize correction or migration to the new lakehouse.
- Contribute to the learning and development of existing crew members by providing knowledge share sessions.
- Support leadership and management of Data Engineering and Analytics Office teams.
- Strong experience working in cloud-based engineering teams, preferably using AWS.
- Experience leading teams, prioritizing effort, and focusing strategically and tactically.
- Experience working across multiple time zones or interest in doing so.
- Solid understanding of dimensional modeling, with Data Vault experience a bonus.
- Thorough understanding of Python and SQL for data exploration and transformation, ideally within Spark environments.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including presentation skills.
- Strong analysis and analytical skills with attention to detail in complex systems and datasets.
- Solid understanding of version control systems, specifically Git.
- Experience working in Data & Analytics teams with Data Engineers, Analysts, Scientists on on-premises or cloud-based environments.
- Experience with SaaS products, CRM, and ERP systems, and working with data in different formats.
- Good understanding of lean and Agile principles, including Shift left, DevOps, CloudOps, DataOps, CI/CD, and SRE mindset.
- Experience working in complex data environments, including ETL processes/data integration frameworks.
- A self-starter comfortable with ambiguity and demonstrable learning agility.
- Experience with Data Visualization tools (Tableau preferred) or business teams who used visualization tools.
