About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Commis Chef to join our team at Carlotta, a new Mediterranean restaurant in Canberra. As a Commis Chef, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of your allocated section, training and coaching Cooks to maintain quality and consistency, and possessing a positive and motivated work ethic at all times.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the overall operation of your allocated section runs smoothly and effectively.
  • Train and coach Cooks to maintain quality and consistency of products.
  • Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to achieve high standards of food quality and presentation.
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering to food safety standards.
  • Participate in menu planning and development, ensuring dishes are prepared to the highest standard.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience as a Commis Chef in an a la carte environment.
  • Mediterranean cuisine knowledge is highly regarded.
  • Experience in high-volume, fast-paced restaurant environments.
  • Resilient and able to perform in high-pressure service periods.
  • Strong work ethic and a 'can-do' attitude.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as within a team.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Understanding of food safety standards.
  • Full-time availability, willing and able to work rotating roster that includes weekend and public holidays.
