Project Planning Manager

Job Summary:
A distinguished cost consultancy firm in Perth seeks a highly experienced Senior Planner to join their team.
The successful candidate will develop and manage detailed project schedules, directly engaging with Tier 1 mining companies to ensure seamless project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Planning: Develop comprehensive project schedules, including Class 2-5 Control Schedules and Control Programs, for efficient project execution.
- Schedule Management: Prepare and maintain detailed project schedules, Basis of Schedule documentation, Schedule Activities, Project Execution Plans, Resource Plans, and Histograms.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Collaborate with project teams to ensure effective schedule integration and alignment. Coordinate with site-based teams to gather necessary information and provide updates on project progress.
- Data Analysis: Analyse project data and metrics to identify potential risks, delays, or opportunities for improvement. Prepare and interpret reports, including earned value analysis, progress reports, and variance analysis.
- Risk Management: Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential risks and ensure project success. Identify and assess risks, develop mitigation plans, and monitor their effectiveness.
- Change Management: Assess the impact of proposed changes on project schedules and recommend adjustments to maintain project objectives. Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure effective change implementation.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to junior planning team members, fostering professional development and knowledge sharing.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify process improvements and implement best practices to enhance project planning and execution efficiency.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification in engineering, project or construction management, or a related field (not essential)
- Certifications: While not mandatory, certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) can be advantageous.
- Must have full working rights in Australia
- Proven Australian working experience in mining projects if mandatory
- Exceptional communication skills for client liaison and stakeholder management
Skills:
- Technical Skills: Proven expertise using Primavera P6, MS Projects scheduling software, and other relevant tools.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytic and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
