Media and Communication Manager

Lead a high-performing team to effectively manage and maintain the council's media and social media presence. This involves developing and implementing strategic communication plans, building relationships with media outlets, and creating engaging content for various channels.
- Establish and execute effective media relations, issue and crisis management, and community engagement strategies through proactive media outreach, regular reporting, and timely responses to media enquiries.
- Coordinate the media and social media program by managing day-to-day operations, including managing staff, overseeing the weekly newspaper, online newsroom, media enquiries and releases, and social media content creation, planning, and channel management.
This role requires strong leadership and project management skills to oversee and support staff in delivering all aspects of the council's media and social media channels.
- Key responsibilities include responding to media enquiries, building relationships with media outlets, writing and distributing media releases, maintaining online newsrooms, attending council meetings, coordinating media events, and providing media monitoring services.
- Additionally, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and supporting staff in delivering content creation and graphic design services.
- In times of crisis or emergency management situations, this role will play a critical component in ensuring the smooth operation of media and social media functions.
