Research Scientist Opportunity

We are seeking a Research Scientist to join our team and contribute to the development of advanced non-destructive testing techniques.

The successful candidate will have expertise in ultrasonic non-destructive evaluation and a strong background in analytical and experimental ultrasonics. They will be responsible for investigating the capabilities of PAUT and MAUT NDT techniques to characterise damage in composite repairs due to environmental degradation and mechanical loading.

This is a full-time, fixed-term position for up to 21 months, with a salary range of $114,824.05 - $136,048.72 per year.

About the Role
  • Determine the capabilities of PAUT and MAUT to detect and characterise damage in composite repairs
  • Collaborate with the project team to develop and implement new research methods
  • Produce high-quality research outputs and publications
  • Seek and manage research funding opportunities
  • Publish research findings in reputable journals

Requirements
  • PhD in the field of ultrasonic non-destructive evaluation
  • An emerging profile in research in the discipline area
  • Demonstrated expert knowledge in analytical and experimental ultrasonics
  • Good understanding of phased array ultrasonic testing and machine learning methods used in NDT
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work collaboratively and establish a rapport with students, staff, and industry partners
