Making a meaningful difference in the life of an older person requires dedication and empathy.

The Illawarra Community Program offers a chance to spend time with an elderly client living at home, who is seeking a friendly visitor to catch up for weekly or fortnightly chats (30 minutes). Enjoy a wander around the garden, a game of cards, or simply chatting together over a cuppa during your visits.

Positive Impact

Volunteering as a companion can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit and for yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help people feel less isolated.

Essential Requirements

  • 18 years or older
  • National Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by us

We'd be happy to discuss a suitable time during the week for a 30-minute to one-hour visit between 9 am and 4 pm, Monday to Sunday. Visits could be weekly to fortnightly depending on your availability.
